Israeli company BIG Shopping Centers group is coming to Montenegro, announced the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović after a meeting with the CEO of this company Hay Galis, which confirms earlier announcements that CEE BIG will take over the largest shopping center in Montenegro, Delta City.

"A large Israeli company is arriving in Montenegro. We are open to fair business and investment from Israel. This is the start of a new investment cycle for Montenegro," Abazović said during a meeting with Hay Galis, CEO of BIG Shopping Centers, and Nimrod Rinot, honorary consul of Montenegro in Israel, according to the Montenegrin news agency Mina.

"We are bringing new values to the economy, creating new jobs and restoring hope," Abazović said, adding that this was the first in a series of large companies to invest in Montenegro.

Galis explained that BIG Shopping Centers are a co-owner of AFI Properties and added that they bring something new to the Montenegrin market. He stated that they intend to continue investing in Montenegro in both coastal and continental cities. He added that the arrival of BIG and AFI Properties will encourage other large companies to come and invest in Montenegro as well.

The BIG Shopping Centers group in its portfolio has 59 shopping centers around the world, of which there are nine in Serbia: four shopping centers in Vojvodina (BIG Novi Sad, BIG Fashion Outlet Indjija, BIG Pančevo and BIG Zrenjanin), shopping centers in Belgrade (BIG Fashion shopping center, BIG Fashion Park and BIG Rakovica), and since last year, also the centers Plaza Kragujevac and Kruševac shopping park.

BIG CEE is a co-owner of AFI Properties, which has been operating in Serbia since 2005 and, as an investor, is behind three important projects in Belgrade: Airport City Business Park, Business Garden Business Center, and Skyline Belgrade Residential and Business Complex.

The arrival of BIG Shopping centers in Montenegro was announced in December last year when Hystead Limited, based in Great Britain, majority owned by the South African real estate investment fund (REIT) Hyprop Investments, announced that it expects to complete the sale of Delta City Mall Podgorica in Montenegro in the first quarter of 2022, and that the buyer would be the Israeli group CEE BIG.

Last year, Hystead also sold the Delta City Shopping Center in Belgrade, which was bought by MPC Properties, whose portfolio now includes five shopping centers in Belgrade (Ušće, BEO, Mercator Center, Immo Outlet and Dela City).

Hystead bought Delta City Mall Belgrade and Delta City Mall Podgorica from Serbian Delta Holding for 127.8 million euros in February 2016.
