The Ada bridge, which was put into operation 10 years ago, should receive a pylon in 2024. 24 million dinars were provided for this task by rebalancing the city budget.

In May 2012, the only attempt was made to mount the seven-meter dome on the Ada Bridge with the help of a Serbian Army helicopter. Installation was not carried out due to strong wind. It was blowing at a speed of nine kilometers per hour, which prevented the people inside the pylon from safely accepting the final element. Although the action was supposed to be repeated as soon as the weather conditions are favorable, that has not happened to date.

A few years ago, the story of raising the top of the pylon started again, but then the Directorate for Construction Land and Construction in Belgrade said that "it will not be mounted because it is not included in the construction permit", writes Novosti.

The pylon of the Ada Bridge is 200 meters high, and stands on a foundation of 113 piles at a depth of 30 meters. 1,300 tons of reinforcement and more than 16,000 cubic meters of concrete were installed in it. It was assembled in three parts, and the last segment of nine and a half meters was installed in September 2011, whose diameter at the top is only one and a half meters. However, in order for this building to be exactly as the architects planned, a seven-meter "roof" is needed.

The missing tip is a conical grill and made of stainless steel. It has no role in the construction, but is an architectural element. It consists of eight pipes, which are interconnected by rings at every meter. The element has a service ladder, which would be used by the craftsmen during the maintenance of the electrical equipment at the top.

Let us remind you that this bridge was ceremonially opened for traffic on New Year's Eve. Already in the first hours of 2012, cars moved from Čukarička to the New Belgrade side of the Sava. This structure is 964 meters long and 45 meters wide, has six traffic lanes, two tracks with rails and two paths for pedestrians and cyclists. This building is planned as a part of the inner main semi-ring (UMP) around Belgrade, which connects Rakovica and New Belgrade.

According to Novosti, the bridge was built based on the solution that won the first prize at the international architectural competition in 2004. The conceptual solution was provided by the Slovenian company "Ponting", and the designers of the bridge were constructor Viktor Markelj and architect Peter Gabrielčič. The expert jury chaired by Nikola Hajdin, the then president of SANU and designer of the capital's New Railway Bridge, unanimously adopted the winning solution. Construction began at the end of 2008 and lasted three years.

The mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, recently announced that the Ada Bridge could get a new name.
