The Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, said that by the end of the year, Nikola Tesla Airport will get a new terminal with an area of 50,000 square meters.

"Thus, we will fulfill the requirement that the airport can accommodate 10 million passengers by 2030." It is important that the concessionaire (the French company "Vanci") will fulfill its obligation and invest 732 million euros in the first five years, which will give us a new airport that receives a larger number of passengers, because its capacity before the concession was up to 5.5 million passengers. said Vesić for Tanjug, as reported by gradskeinfo.rs.

He added that this enables further development of our national airline "Air Serbia" and tourism, cargo centers and everything else that goes with the airport.

"For tourism, it is very important to have a good air connection with other parts of the world, and in our case primarily with Europe." "Air Serbia" enables us, because it starts flying to China and to Chicago, so it turned out that the concession was the right move, because we will get a new, modern airport, which will generate much more money than the airport building itself, from flights and everything else," said Vesić.

He mentioned that the expansion of the airport building in Surčin and the increase in the number of flights and passengers also bring more cargo traffic and that this is one of the reasons why the state established the company Aerodromi Srbije.

"There are several airports in Serbia that will be more cargo airports, through which, first of all, agricultural products will be easily and quickly transported to all parts of the world so that they do not deteriorate, because speed is decisive here," said the minister.

Vesić emphasized that he is very happy that the expansion of the Belgrade airport enabled the state to develop other airports, such as Lađevci, Ponikve and Niš, which will be very important for the development of the economy.
