Along with the ongoing construction of the garage near the Pinki hall in Zemun, in 2023 the construction of another underground parking lot in Skerlićeva Street will begin.

The tender for works on the new area, which should have 368 parking spaces near the St. Sava Temple, was announced in March 2022, and Novosti reports that the necessary documentation is being obtained.

It is planned to build three levels with 368 parking spaces on an area of 11,660 meters, of which 20 will be reserved for people with disabilities. It is planned that the garage in Skerlićeva will have two elevators and three safety stairs. The dimensions of the elevators will be adapted to the movement of people with disabilities. It will have all standard communal and fire protection installations, and thanks to the modern ventilation system, the living environment as well as nearby cultural monuments will be protected from exhaust gases.

Location conditions are currently being obtained, Parking Service told Novosti, which means that the tender has been successfully conducted and that the conceptual solution and conceptual design have been completed.

An application for obtaining location conditions remains to be submitted, and then the project for a building permit is drawn up.

The project for the construction of four underground garages in the capital was postponed several times, and the first started with the landscaping of the area in front of the Pinki hall in Zemun, which will become a modern parking lot. In August of last year, the city again took over the management of this sports building, which was completely neglected. As the first step towards the arrangement of the space, the construction of the parking lot, which will be located on the plateau in front of the entrance to the building, has been initiated.

"In September 2022, preparatory work began for the construction of an underground garage under the plateau of the Pinky Hall," they say. "Work is underway to secure the foundation pit, and the construction of the garage should be completed by the end of 2023."

The new garage will occupy 5,407 square meters with an entrance from Gradski park Street and an exit from Nemanjina (the part between the sports center and the building of the Faculty of Agriculture). Also, the reconstruction of the existing green areas of the plateau, as well as paving, is planned, based on the initial conceptual design of the architect Ivan Antic from 1974.

The first public underground garage was opened in 2005 under Pionirski Park. Construction work began in March 2003, and although it was planned to finish the work by the spring of next year, the deadlines were missed several times, so the builders hung the "helmets" on the peg a little later. This investment was worth between 350 and 450 million dinars, while the citizens of Belgrade got for the first time a public underground parking lot with 461 spaces on three levels and 14,000 square meters.

The City's plan to start construction of as many as four public garages, mostly in central city streets, has been announced for the past few years.

In addition to the underground parking lot in front of "Pinki" and in Skerlićeva Street, work should have already started on Vlajkovićeva Street and Fruškogorska Street, on the corner with Pop Lukina. However, there is still nothing from that work.
