Photo: Printscreen Instagram @vesicgThe Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure, Goran Vesić, published today on his Instagram profile renderings of the future appearance of the former Beobanka building in Zeleni Venac in Belgrade and confirmed that the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure had issued a building permit for its reconstruction.
"The realization of this project started while I was performing public functions in the City of Belgrade and is particularly important for the development of Zeleni Venac. At that time, we planned that Belgrade, simultaneously with the reconstruction of this building, would move out the bus interchange in accordance with the plan for the relocation of all bus interchanges in the city center and to call for a tender for the reconstruction of the observation deck, which is now occupied by illegal buildings, and to create an urban pocket there. The building itself was supposed to become an art center," Vesić wrote on Instagram.

Vesić expects that after the reconstruction, the Beobaka building will be one of the most beautiful office buildings in Belgrade, as it was when it was built.
The minister also expressed his pride that the building designed by architect Milica Šterić, one of Serbia's first female postwar modernist architects, is finally returning to the city's map.
"Her masterpiece was this former office building of Energoprojekt, later known as Beobanka, from 1960, which even today has a special place in Serbian construction and architecture due to its format and construction," wrote Vesić.
In November 2016, the German company Stattwerk bought the former Beobanka building. In April last year, the building became the property of Astoria Properties from Novi Sad.
