The construction of BIO4 Campus in Serbia will begin in August or September next year and will last approximately two years, said Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović.

Begović, together with Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, visited Biopolis in Singapore, a campus that provides space for biomedical research and development activities and promotes cooperation between the private and public sectors. She added that the guiding idea for this was Biopolis in Singapore.

The Minister pointed out that the construction of BIO4 Campus is a strategic decision of the state and “one of the best ideas we have had in the past few decades, as far as investment in science is concerned”, the website of the Government of Serbia announced.

She added that during the visit to Biopolis they received very useful advice, expressing her belief that Serbia, if it succeeds in putting it all into practice, has a very bright future in terms of biotechnology and the introduction of the concept of bioeconomy.

Brnabić said that it was very inspiring to see such a campus, which is one of the first biotechnological campuses in the world, announcing that the construction of our BIO4 Campus will begin next year, which will mean a lot for Serbian science and economy, and that it will start now issuing location conditions.

The Prime Minister assessed that the construction of BIO4 Campus is a very good sign that Serbia is moving forward and that it can continue to build on the success achieved in digitisation in the past five years.

“I expect that in the coming years it will bring us faster economic development, i.e. further growth of salaries, pensions and an ever stronger Serbia“, concluded the Prime Minister.
