The Secretariat for Urban Planning and Building Affairs of the City of Belgrade has advertised the public inspection of the Draft General Regulation Plan of the Rail Systems in Belgrade with Elements of Detailed Development of the 2nd Phase of the 1st Subway Line.

The graphic which shows the planned subway lines in this plan, as well as in the one that was published last December in the Official Gazette, features a branch will leads to the Orlovaca Cemetery.

However, as that document, prepared by the Urban Planning Institute of Belgrade, shows, the number of the stations along the route of Line 1 has remained the same – 21, except that, instead of the Višnjička station, there is now the Karaburma station.

The plan says that the subway line 1 is planned on the following route:

Železnik –– Makiš – Žarkovo - Bele vode - Trgovačka Street – Požeška Street – Park "Banovo brdo" – Ada Ciganlija – Belgrade Fair – Mostar – Sava Square – Republic Square – Skadarlija - Danube – Pančevo Bridge – Karaburma Rail Stations – Ada Huja – Karaburma – Mirijevski Blvd – Seventh Belgrade Gymnasium – Mirijevo.

The stations on the additional branch are not listed in the plan, but the graphic shows seven of them: Ace Joksimovića Street, Jablanička Street, Institute, Vidikovac, Labudovo brdo, Petlovo brdo and Orlovača.

Also, considering that the planned depth of the subway on the section of the first phase of line 1, from the Pančevo Bridge station, the section from the Bele Vode station to Mirijevo, 16.7 km long, is planned in a deep tunnel.

According to the previous design, the section from the Pančevo Bridge to Mirijevo was planned in an open excavation.

The part of the route from the Makiš station to the Bele Vode station is still planned in an open excavation around 2.15 km long.

Another thing that remains is that the branch of the first subway line of around 7.2 km from Banovo Brdo toward the Orlovača Cemetery and the planned JGB Vrbin Potok depot is planned as an underground section.

A new feature is that the construction of a space for the parking and maintenance of trains is planned in Mirijevo, which is also drawn on the plan.

As said, the parking of a part of the rail cars overnight can be planned within the parking space located in the extension of the final station on the subway line, in order to reduce the costs due to the empty rides between the first and the last stations and enable a better rail traffic management in all operating regimes.

In the underground part for the parking of trains, there will be room for up to 4 trains (with 4 rail cars each), and the plan is to envisage the interior cleaning of the trains upon the completion of the ride in the same space. The public inspection lasts until December 8, reports ekapija.com.
