House may not be the best word, as it is a 45-room private palace overlooking Hyde Park that a Chinese billionaire is selling three years after buying it for more than 200 million pounds.

The Guardian reports that at least five potential buyers have toured the seven-storey property in Knightsbridge since it was advertised for sale a few weeks ago.

Potential buyers include Middle Eastern royal families and wealthy American investors.

It was built in the 1830s as a grand house for four families, but was converted into a spacious residence in the 1980s.

The property was sold for a record 205 million pounds in January 2020 to Chinese investor Cheung Chung Ki, founder and director of Si-Si Land Holdings.

However, the Financial Times reported on Friday that it has learned from five different sources that the real owner is Hui Ka Yan, the founder and majority owner of Evergrande, a Chinese construction giant that has fallen into huge financial trouble due to debt.

As a result, Hui is selling numerous properties he owns around the world and two private jets.

The local authority in London has granted permission to redevelop the property, which has been neglected since its previous owner, Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, died in 2011.

The plans are to renovate it, within which another floor would be added, and the total square footage would be 5,760 square meters.
