THE BIGGEST JUMP IN THE CONSTRUCTION RECORDED IN SPAIN AND HUNGARY

In July, the construction sector increased its activities in the countries of the Eurozone by 0.3 percent and in the members of the European Union by 0.2 percent compared to June this year, according to data from the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat).

Let us remind you that in June construction production fell by 1.2 percent in the Eurozone and by 1.3 percent in the EU.

Compared to July of the previous year, production in the construction sector increased by 1.5 percent in the Eurozone and by 1.3 percent in the EU. The improvement came after a 1.1 percent decline in activity in April.

On a monthly basis, Spain had the highest growth in construction production (+6.7 percent). Hungary (+5.7 percent) and Slovakia (+3.1 percent) follow. The largest decline in the volume of construction was recorded in Austria and Slovenia (both -4.2 percent), the Czech Republic (-2.9 percent) and Sweden (-1.3 percent).

The largest annual increase in production in construction was registered in Slovenia (+28.5 percent), Romania (+8.3 percent) and Austria (+7.6 percent), while it decreased the most in Sweden (-8.7 percent), Spain (-5.2 percent) and the Czech Republic (-2.7 percent).

A total of 2,370 construction permits were issued in Serbia in July, which is four percent more than in the same month last year. The largest number of permits refers to buildings (81.5 percent), and the rest to other buildings, according to the data of the Republic Statistical Office (RSO).

When it comes to buildings, 79.6 percent of permits were issued for residential buildings, and the rest for non-residential buildings.

According to the permits issued in July, the construction of 3,502 apartments, with an average area of 76.8 square meters, was reported in Serbia. The greatest construction activity was in the Belgrade region.
